Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1How much does it cost to move?
The price will depend on a number of factors; for example the number of bedrooms your property is, the type of property you are moving from and to, the stairs, steps involved, how close the parking maybe from the main door, nature of the items and the distance travelling etc. Contact MCLA where our friendly and helpful staff will be more than willing to talk you through the process to assist with a competitive price. 2What is a Bill of Lading?
Every mover is required to prepare a bill of lading for every shipment transported. The bill of lading is the receipt for your goods and the contract with your mover for their transportation. The driver who loads your shipment must give you a copy of the bill of lading. It is your responsibility to read and understand the information on the bill of lading before you sign it. The bill of lading identifies the mover and specifies when the transportation is to be performed. It also specifies the terms and conditions for payment of the total charges and the maximum amount required to be paid at the time of delivery if you are moving under a non-binding estimate. Information regarding the valuation of your shipment and the amount the mover will be liable for in the event of loss or damage is also shown.
3Can I pack anything in the drawers of my dresser or desk?
All loose items must be packed in boxes to prevent loss or damage. It is recommended that you pack all items and leave the drawers empty.
4Will the movers and packers place each and every item where I would like them to be placed?
Yes! Why not, this is one of the many qualities Moving Company LA takes pride in. Each and every one of your items will be placed precisely where you would like them to be placed, hassle free. Our staff will do everything necessary to make sure your entire move is trouble free.
5How much notice must I give to book a date for packing or moving?
The golden rule as with anything; sooner rather later. The more time we have, the better the estimation provided for time and space allocation required for your move. More so, from experience there are always on-going and last minute alterations, with which with enough notice we can assure that any of these alterations are clearly communicated on the move to provide a smooth experience with MCLA. However, generally we recommend that you give a minimum of 5 Days notice, although if this is not possible we will endeavour to meet your requirements. Ideally, as soon as you know when you want to move you should confirm dates with us.
6Do I have to arrange parking through my local council / landlord / local authority, to obtain permits if necessary?
Yes, it is the customer’s responsibility to make sure that they have permit(s) for all the addresses concerned. No Moving Company in the industry would usually take any responsibility for this. If you could not get one on time, you might be able to ask neighbors for visitors permit to use for that particular day if available and applicable.
7Can you disassemble and assemble furniture?
Yes we can, our professional movers will assemble or disassemble. The safest way to transport furniture which can be dismantled, is to disassemble them for safety reasons whilst in transportation.
